The Seattle Mariners, fresh off the best postseason run in franchise history, released their spring training schedule for 2026 on Wednesday.
The Mariners will head to the Peoria Sports Complex in Peoria, Ariz., and will look to take the first steps in reaching and exceeding where the team ended 2025.
Seattle will play 32 Cactus League games in the spring. Sixteen of those games will be at the Peoria Sports Complex, with the Mariners being the "home team" in 15 of them. The one game at Peoria Sports Complex that Seattle won't be the home team for will be against its facility partner, the San Diego Padres.
Seattle will end spring training against San Diego on March 23 and will begin the 2026 regular season against the Cleveland Guardians on March 26 at T-Mobile Park in Seattle.
Feb. 20 — The Mariners' spring training and Cactus League opener against the Padres.
March 1, 3 — Seattle's first two games against American League West rivals the Texas Rangers and Los Angeles Angels, respectively.
March 20 — The Mariners' Spring Breakout game against the Milwaukee Brewers on March 20 at American Family Fields in Phoenix. The game will feature Seattle and Milwaukee's top prospects.
Seattle will enter this season coming off the most successful season in franchise history.
The Mariners made it to Game 7 of the American League Championship Series before ultimately falling to the Toronto Blue Jays. It was the first time since the franchise was established in 1977 that it was one win away from the World Series.
There was no solace among players, coaches and the front office in getting "close" to the team's first-ever World Series.
There was a common thread of thought among general manager Justin Hollander and president of baseball operations Jerry Dipoto that 2025 was the beginning of something special and not a one-and-done.
And every player on the team will be motivated to prove that assessment right.
The World Baseball Classic also takes place from March 1-17 and several major and minor leaguers, including Randy Arozarena, Julio Rodriguez, Cal Raleigh, Michael Arroyo, Andres Munoz and others, are expected to be away from the facility while that is taking place.
Seattle has more money to spend in the offseason than it has in previous years ($30-35 million), and several key contributors from the team this year will be free agents: namely first baseman Josh Naylor and second baseman/designated hitter Jorge Polanco.
The Mariners' top brass has said bringing back Naylor is a priority and Polanco returning also isn't out of the question.
There's also been rumors that Seattle could be in the hunt for international corner infielders Munetaka Murakami and Kazuma Okamoto and defending Cy Young winner and left-handed starting pitcher Tarik Skubal.
Seattle's top prospects could also play a bigger role on the major league roster this year. The club's top overall prospect, Colt Emerson, ended the year with the postseason taxi squad after progressing from High-A to Triple-A in the regular season.
The No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 MLB Draft, Kade Anderson, will also make his pro debut in spring training. He's considered to be one of the most major league-ready pitchers from the draft, and there remains a questions where in the farm system he'll begin 2026.
The foundation of Seattle's roster is in place with the starting rotation, All-Star closer Andres Munoz, Rodriguez, Raleigh, Arozarena, J.P. Crawford and more all returning for 2026. How the Mariners build the roster around that foundation will be instrumental in helping the M's clear the last hurdle and make the World Series.
