The Mariners rallied for a 4-3 win on Saturday night against the San Francisco Giants, as Woo kept them in the game.
The Seattle Mariners rallied for a crucial 4-3 win on Saturday night, beating the San Francisco Giants at T-Mobile Park.
With the win, the Mariners are now 49-50 through 99 games. They remain one game back of the Boston Red Sox in the wild card race, and they are 1.5 games back of the Texas Rangers in the American League West. Seattle is hoping to win the division for the second consecutive season.
Cole Young's three-home run homer in the seventh inning brought the Mariners back from a 3-0 deficit and Julio Rodriguez's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 10th gave them the win.
Jose Ferrer earned the win on the mound, while Andres Munoz, Eduard Bazardo and Gabe Speier all provided solid relief of Bryan Woo, who went six innings and gave up three runs.
Woo's quality start came with two walks and seven strikeouts. He has an ERA of 4.16 for the season, but he also made some history, according to StatsCentre.

That is the fifth-fewest games needed to reach the 500 strikeout plateau in team history, trailing only Luis Castillo (81), Randy Johnson (85), James Paxton (86) and Felix Hernandez (87).
A four-year veteran, Woo was an All-Star in 2025 who has had some trouble maintaining that form this season. He's been excellent at home, but has struggled on the road, which is inflating his overall numbers. He's 7-6 with that 4.16 ERA, but he has an ERA of more than six away from home.

The Mariners and Giants will finish out their series on Sunday afternoon at 1:10 p.m. PT. Former Mariners left-hander Robbie Ray will take the mound for San Francisco while the Mariners send Logan Gilbert to the mound. Ray is 8-6 with a 3.38 ERA while Gilbert is 7-6 with a 3.32.
Of course, Ray is left-handed, which complicates things for an M's team that really struggles against lefties.
For scoreboard watching purposes, the Red Sox are hosting the Tampa Bay Rays and are looking for a four-game sweep. They've won 12 consecutive games.
The Rangers are on the road at the Atlanta Braves, looking for a series win against one of the best teams in baseball.
