The future Hall of Famer will be available in relief for the next two nights, but he's still projected to pitch at T-Mobile Park on Sunday afternoon in the regular season finale.

Longtime Los Angeles Dodgers ace and future Hall of Famer Clayton Kershaw is scheduled to make the final regular season start of his career on Sunday afternoon against the Seattle Mariners at T-Mobile Park. That comes from Sonja Chen, who reports that Kershaw will also be available for LA out of the bullpen on Wednesday and Thursday.

Kershaw recently announced that he will retire at the conclusion of this season, and though he figures to be on the playoff roster for LA, it's unclear what his role will be, meaning that Sunday could be his final start ever, and that the Mariners could be part of some unique and special history.

One of the best left-handed pitchers to ever play the game, Kershaw has quite the resume: A three-time Cy Young winner, he's also a five-time ERA champion, a Gold Glover, a Triple Crown winner and an MVP. He's helped the Dodgers win two World Series championships and has made 11 All-Star Games.

It remains to be seen how much meaning that game will have to either team, and that will probably dictate the level of pomp and circumstance in the ballpark.

Both teams have already clinched a playoff berth, and the Mariners will have several chances to wrap up the American League West and a first-round bye by Sunday's matchup. The Dodgers enter play on Wednesday at 1.5 games up in their division, so it's possible Sunday is very important to them.

If the game is truly meaningless, expect the Mariners to honor Kershaw when he concludes his outing for the day.

Until then, the Mariners will play the Rockies again on Wednesday night only needing a win to clinch the division. First pitch is set for 6:40 p.m. PT as Luis Castillo takes the mound.

Seattle has won 15 of its last 16 games and used a dramatic eighth-inning comeback to win on Tuesday night. Josh Naylor had a three-run double in the eighth to lift Seattle to a 4-3 win.

It's the first playoff berth for the Mariners since 2022.
