The handshake controversy between Cal Raleigh and Randy Arozarena has reached the barnstorming baseball team.

If the Seattle Mariners were hoping that the handshake controversy between Cal Raleigh and Randy Arozarena would go away quickly, they were sadly mistaken.

Not only is it still the talk of the World Baseball Classic, people are still discussing Arozarena's reaction after the fact, Josh Naylor's joke about the story and Arozarena's statement from Saturday. And oh yes, the whole thing was also mocked by the barnstorming Savannah Bananas on Saturday night during their performance in New Orleans.

However, the Bananas and the rival Party Animals were able to make up in a way that Arozarena and Raleigh apparently haven't yet, by having a dance party at home plate.

Maybe this can work for the M's when Raleigh returns from the World Baseball Classic, where he's still playing with Team USA. Anything is worth a try.

In other M's news

--Team USA plays the Dominican Republic in the semifinal round on Sunday night (5:00 p.m. PT). It's unclear if Raleigh will catch as he's gone hitless in three games, but if he does? We'll get another home plate situation when M's center fielder Julio Rodriguez comes to the plate, possibly as early as the second inning.

--The Mariners sent Kade Anderson down to minor league spring training after he made three starts in the Cactus League. The No. 21 overall prospect in baseball, Anderson was taken No. 3 in the MLB Draft last July. While he could debut in the big leagues as early as this season, it looks like he'll start the 2026 campaign at High-A Everett. He doesn't figure to be there long.

--M's spring training superstar Brennen Davis left Saturday's loss against the Los Angeles Angels with a hamstring issue, but he thinks he's fine. The extreme heat in the Phoenix area may have contributed.

--Team Venezuela upset the defending WBC champions from Japan in the quarterfinals on Saturday night, meaning that M's reliever Eduard Bazardo is still playing in the tournament. He tossed 0.1 innings on Saturday, surrendering a double and getting a ground ball to second. Jhonathan Diaz is also on the Venezuelan roster, but has not pitched in the tournament yet. He figures to begin the season at Triple-A Tacoma.

--The Mariners will take on the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday afternoon at 1:10 p.m. PT. George Kirby will take the mound in his (likely) penultimate spring training appearance. Seattle lost 6-2 to the Angels on Saturday.
