After a difficult 6-5 loss on Tuesday night, the Seattle Mariners still have two more games in Miami against the Marlins before heading to Tampa Bay to close out the first half of the season against the Rays.

When they take on the Rays, it will be the first chance for the M's to see infielder Ben Williamson since they traded him to Tampa Bay this winter in the deal that ended up bringing Brendan Donovan.

We caught up with Williamson on the most recent 'Refuse to Lose Territory' podcast to talk with him about the trade, his career, his experience with the 2025 M's and much more, including some of his relationships with Mariners players and former teammates.

Brady Farkas: I imagine you're looking forward to seeing some guys this weekend and reconnecting with some old teammates. Obviously, guys you played with in the big leagues, guys you came up with in the minors. Colt Emerson is here now. Cole Young is with the big league squad again. So kind of take me through kind of who you're looking to reconnect with this weekend.

Ben Williamson: Yeah, I mean, obviously, Colt Emerson, like, I (was) drafted with him (in 2023), like, lived with him a couple years at spring training. I'm really excited to see him.

Cole Young, too, like, I got close with last year, just being the two young guys on the team. So, I mean, both those guys, definitely trying to grab coffee with them or something.

BF: Talk to me a little bit about Colt, a guy we've seen now up in the big leagues for a month and a half or so. One of the top prospects in baseball. We've seen him have some really nice moments. We've seen him go through some learning curves as well, but take me through kind of your relationship with him and what you've seen from him as a player, because Mariners fans are certainly excited about what he'll bring in the future.

BW: Yeah, I mean, Colt's just a unicorn. That's the best way I can explain it. The level of maturity he has and basically, like, the way he wants to grow, stacking day by day, he's just a very process-oriented, I guess, just young guy, and that's just very hard to come by, I feel like.

I feel like a lot of young guys take a while to get into that process-oriented mindset, and Colt just has it.

Emerson was one of the top prospects in baseball at the time of his promotion. The 20-year-old is hitting .207 with seven homers and 19 RBIs in his first taste of the big leagues while also playing a solid shortstop.

Williamson is hitting .235 with two homers and 21 RBIs for the Rays.
