Here's When Seattle Mariners Outfielder is Expected to Return to Lineup cover image

Victor Robles has been out multiple days with right shoulder fatigue but could be back soon.

PEORIA, Ariz. —  The Seattle Mariners are giving runway to several players while prominent veterans are away from the team competing in the 2026 World Baseball Classic.

However, one of the veterans still with the Mariners in Peoria, Ariz., has been absent from the lineup in recent days.

Outfielder Victor Robles hasn't played in a Cactus League game since March 1.

According to a report from Shannon Drayer of Seattle Sports 710, Robles was dealing with soreness in his shoulder after diving for a ball in a game last week.

Robles has been sporting a right shoulder wrap in the clubhouse since.

According to the report, the Mariners sent Robles to get MRIs, which came back clean.

Seattle manager Dan Wilson described the injury as "right shoulder fatigue," and said Saturday that Robles will return to the lineup as a designated hitter in a game against the Milwaukee Brewers at 12:10 p.m. PT on Sunday at American Family Fields in Maryvale, Ariz.

"He'll get some at-bats tomorrow and then start slowly getting back to the outfield," Wilson said in a news conference Saturday.

Robles missed most of last season with issues with his opposite shoulder. He suffered a left shoulder fracture/dislocation after making a catch against the netting in foul territory against the San Francisco Giants on April 6.

Robles returned Aug. 23 against the Athletics. He split time in right field after his return with Dominic Canzone, who's currently competing for Italy in the WBC.

Robles finished 2025 with a slash line of .245/.281/.330 and a .611 OPS in 32 games. He hit four doubles, a triple and a home run with nine RBIs and stole six bases in eight attempts.

Right field is still a big question mark for the Mariners going into 2026.

Robles earned a two-year contract after emerging as one of the team's most consistent on-base threats and base-stealers in the second-half of 2024. He also played an athletic right field and filled in for Julio Rodriguez in center when the latter was out with an ankle sprain. He became the team's lead-off hitter when J.P. Crawford was out with a hand injury.

Robles' injury left an outfield spot and the lead-off role open for most of '25. After several attempts to find an answer, Canzone stepped up and posted his best major league season (.300/.358/.481 slash line in 82 games).

Seattle also has Luke Raley on the roster, who's capable of playing first base and the outfield. The team signed Rob Refsnyder this offseason to platoon against left-handed pitching. Refsnyder can also play first base and the outfield.

Between all those aforementioned players, and several minor leaguers such as Lazaro Montes and Brennen Davis, the Mariners have no shortage of options for right fielders this year.
