On Tuesday, Seattle Mariners reporter Adam Jude noted that Triple-A slugger Brennen Davis is set to be sidelined for "a few weeks" with a strained left hamstring. He is on the Triple-A injured list and that injury will have a great impact on the M's roster moving forward.

Let's examine a little deeper.

Now 26 years old, Davis was a second-round pick of the Chicago Cubs in 2018. A former Top 100 prospect, he's had a hard time staying healthy, failing to play 100 games or more in each season since 2021.

In that 2021 campaign, he played exactly 100 games with multiple Cubs affiliates, getting as high as Triple-A. He played just 53 games in 2022, 71 in 2023, 55 in 2024 and 50 in 2025. By 2025, he was in the New York Yankees system and the Mariners acquired him via free agency in Dec. of 2025.

Since the moment he arrived in the offseason, he's impressed people with his prodigious power and whopping exit velocities. Through 47 games with the Rainiers, he's hitting .265 with a .376 on-base percentage. He's got nine homers, 31 RBIs and a stolen base. The Mariners put him on the 40-man roster in May.

Frankly, numerous fans and media members have been intrigued by giving Davis a roster spot over the two veterans, who have both endured their own struggles.

Robles, though back now, has spent much of the last two seasons injured. Refsnyder, signed to a $6.25 million deal this offseason, is hitting just .117 with three home runs. Brought into hit left-handed pitching, he's at just .111 against southpaws.

Davis's injury means that both Robles and Refsnyder are secure in their roster spots for a while longer - if they were every in jeopardy of losing them.

Should Refsnyder or Robles get injured, Joe would likely be the next man up from the right-handed side. He's played in 18 games for the M's so far this season, hitting .182 with a home run. He's currently back in Triple-A.

Donovan is likely not impacted by Davis's injury. The utility man is currently on the injured list, but because of the emergence of Colt Emerson, he's unlikely to become the every day third baseman again. Donovan will likely have to float around the field, and Patrick Wisdom remains the most likely man to go down when he's healthy, which still appears a few weeks away.

Should Davis survive this season's roster crunch, he could have a chance at significant playing time next season. Both Refsnyder and Randy Arozarena are free agents this offseason.

The Mariners (33-29) have won eight straight games and will go for a sweep of the New York Mets on Wednesday afternoon at 12:40 p.m. PT. The Rainiers, on the other hand, have lost 10 straight contests.
