Teddy McGraw made his Double-A debut after multiple rehab assignments and Grant Knipp will be making his A-ball debut.
The depth in the Seattle Mariners farm system has yielded amazing results for the team at the major league level so far this year, with the promotion of infielder Colt Emerson (No. 5 MLB Pipeline top 100) going quite well so far.
The Mariners currently have seven top 100 prospects on the MLB Pipeline Top 100 and potentially more waiting in the wings with catcher Luke Stevenson off to a solid start.
While the top 100 prospects get a lot of the attention, Seattle also has some interesting relief arms in its MLB Pipeline Top 30, two of which are working their ways back from serious injury concerns.
Here's an overview of a pair of recent roster moves:
Teddy McGraw, RHP, activated/promoted to Double-A
McGraw was picked in the third round of the 2023 MLB Draft out of Wake Forest. He wasn't able to make his major league debut until 2024 due to recovery from his second Tommy John surgery.
The former Demon Deacon was considered to have first-round talent, but his injury history led to him falling to the third round.
The 24-year-old right-hander's injury problems have persisted, even after his professional debut. He was limited to just 18 appearances (16 starts) from '24-25 due to various other ailments.
Seattle opted to move McGraw from a starting pitcher to the bullpen this season and he received a non-roster invite to spring training. He was unable to pitch in a Cactus League game due to right biceps tendinitis.
McGraw was with the Arizona Complex League Mariners club from May 2-May 25 on a rehab assignment. He continued his rehab assignment with the Single-A Inland Empire 66ers from May 26-June 3.
McGraw was promoted to the Double-A Arkansas Travelers on Friday and made his debut the same day.
In his first taste of Double-A ball, McGraw struck out one batter, walked another and allowed one hit in one inning pitched.
McGraw is ranked as the organization's No. 13 prospect per MLB Pipeline.
Grant Knipp, RHP/DH, promoted to Single-A
Seattle selected an interesting prospect in the sixth round of the 2024 MLB Draft, two-way players Grant Knipp out of Campbell
A catcher in college, Knipp appears set to focus on pitching and hitting at the professional level.
Shortly after being named to the team's roster list for their 2025 spring breakout game, which serves as an exhibition game between two teams' top prospects, he had to undergo Tommy John surgery.
Knipp missed all of 2025 after undergoing the surgery and made his professional debut with the ACL Mariners in May.
Knipp was promoted to the 66ers from the ACL on Friday. His first appearance with Inland Empire will be his first "A"-ball appearance.
Knipp is ranked as the team's No. 22 prospect per MLB Pipeline.
