There wasn't much to write home about in Saturday night's 5-1 Seattle Mariners loss to the Boston Red Sox, but there was one special moment in the top of the fifth inning.

Trailing 2-1, the Red Sox got the leadoff man against Emerson Hancock. Hancock then got Marcelo Mayer to bounce into an unreal 5-6-3 double play, with JP Crawford making an incredible diving play to his left.

In the shift, Crawford, who is now playing third base, was positioned near shortstop. He made the diving play to his left and then glove flipped from his stomach to a covering Colt Emerson, who rifled to Josh Naylor for the double play.

It was a big moment in the game, as it helped keep the Red Sox off the board in the fifth, but it was also a big moment for Crawford, who just moved to third base officially this week.

A former Gold Glove shortstop (2020), Crawford's defense has regressed at the position, with him willingly moving to third to get Emerson at shortstop more often. So far, Crawford has passed the eye test at his new position, making stellar diving plays in both directions and being able to handle all the throws he's been tasked with.

With Crawford playing well at third, now, the Mariners need to figure out a way to get the offense going. They've been shut down in consecutive games by the Red Sox duo of Ranger Suarez and Connelly Early, and they'll see a third lefty (Payton Tolle) on Sunday.

First pitch is set for 1:10 p.m. PT. Logan Gilbert, who is coming off a 7-inning gem against the Orioles, will take the mound for Seattle.

--As has become the norm, Mariners top prospect Kade Anderson put together a dominant start on Friday night for Double-A Arkansas.

Ranked as the No. 6 prospect in baseball by MLB Pipeline, Anderson is the No. 2 pitching prospect in the sport. 

He dazzled for the Travelers, twirling six more scoreless innings against Frisco. He gave up just one walk and two hits while striking out eight. Attacking the zone, he threw 50 of his 70 pitches for strikes.
