As has become the norm, Seattle Mariners top prospect Kade Anderson put together a dominant start on Friday night for Double-A Arkansas.

Ranked as the No. 6 prospect in baseball by MLB Pipeline, Anderson is the No. 2 pitching prospect in the sport. 

He dazzled for the Travelers, twirling six more scoreless innings against Frisco. He gave up just one walk and two hits while striking out eight. Attacking the zone, he threw 50 of his 70 pitches for strikes.

His season-ERA is now down to just 1.02. His scoreless innings streak is up to 27.2. He has 90 strikeouts in just 61.2 innings.

ESPN's Buster Olney posted on social media that Anderson "seems destined to become a big part of Seattle's bullpen later this year."

While it might be surprising to some to hear about Anderson, a dominant starter, being in the bullpen, keep in mind that the Mariners want to limit his innings in his first professional season. He threw approximately 120 innings in his final season at LSU, meaning he can probably comfortably get to 140 innings this year. The Mariners will want to keep him healthy and effective while also giving him a chance to help this team try to get to the World Series.

Olney has echoed those sentiments before on the 'Refuse to Lose Territory' podcast, telling us on June 12:

..."I think they're going to want to develop him as much as possible in the minor leagues as a starter. And at some point in the month of July, I'm guessing, they'll start to begin to look at him as a short reliever and prepare him on that regimen.

Maybe even during his tenure in Triple-A, when he gets promoted to Triple-A. Start to work him out of the bullpen, have him come in in the fourth inning, fifth inning.

But I mean, this is an exciting option for them to have at the end of the year."

The Travelers will play again on Saturday night, this time with top prospect Ryan Sloan taking the mound.

The Mariners lost on Friday night against the Boston Red Sox (6-2) to fall to 39-38 on the campaign. They remain 0.5 games up on the Athletics in the American League West.

Seattle and Boston will play again on Saturday night with first pitch coming at 7:10 p.m. PT. Connelly Early (BOS) will pitch against Emerson Hancock (SEA).
