PEORIA, Ariz. -- Seattle Mariners left-hander Kade Anderson impressed yet again during a live bullpen session on Saturday afternoon at the Peoria Sports Complex.
Pitching against some of the Mariners top hitters, Anderson utilized a mid-90s fastball, a slider and a changeup. He struck out Mitch Garver and Julio Rodriguez in his two innings, while also fanning Rob Refsnyder and getting Cal Raleigh to pop-up.
The No. 3 pick in the 2025 MLB Draft out of LSU, Anderson is one of the biggest storylines in camp, with fans wondering if he has a chance to make his major league debut just a year after getting drafted, like Trey Yesavage did last season for the Toronto Blue Jays.
Anderson was asked about facing some of the M's best hitters, and was also asked about his willingness to pitch in the zone as opposed to shying away from contact.
Yeah. I think as a Mariner, that's what we do. We go right at guys, seeing what it's all about. And if you give up a hit, you go right back at them. I think that's the mentality we have.
At one point, Anderson also said he was "here to strike guys out," which should have M's fans fired up.
The left-hander threw 119 innings last season at LSU, helping lead the Tigers to the national championship for the second time in three years.
--Mariners pitcher Cooper Criswell impressed in his first action of the spring on Friday, throwing two scoreless innings. We caught up with Criswell, and catcher Cal Raleigh, to talk about it all.
--Cole Young made his major league debut in 2025, experiencing all the ups-and-downs of a major league season. He discussed what he learned and what he's bringing into 2026. He's currently the favorite for the starting second base job.
--After a dreadful 2025 season that saw him battle multiple injuries, Luke Raley went 2-for-2 in the Cactus League opener. Manager Dan Wilson spoke about what a healthy Raley can do for the team in a media session on Saturday morning.
--The newest episode of the 'Refuse to Lose' podcast is now out. Brady talks with former M's outfielder Casper Wells, as well as Criswell, and shares his take on the situation for Michael Arroyo as he continues to impress at the plate.
