Removed from the game on Sunday with a hamstring issue, Canzone is not in the lineup on Tuesday.
PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- Seattle Mariners outfielder Dominic Canzone is not in the lineup on Tuesday for game one of the Mariners' three-game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park.
Canzone left Sunday's win against the Boston Red Sox with a right hamstring issue. He was seen running in the outfield pregame, but manager Dan Wilson said that Canzone would get a day off and the team will re-evaluate before Wednesday's game.
"Dom's doing okay today. Had a chance to get out here earlier and do some running on the hamstring and feels pretty good. So, we're going to give it one more day and see how he is tomorrow (Wednesday) and go from there, but all pretty good signs, I think, for Dom as well."
Hamstring issues are not new to the Mariners. Julio Rodriguez dealt with a hamstring issue over the weekend and Randy Arozarena was just activated from the 10-day injured list after suffering a hamstring issue as well. Arozarena hasn't played since June 12 in Washington. He did not get any rehab games.
Canzone has turned into a vital part of the Mariners lineup, hitting .281 with 12 homers, 33 RBIs and a stolen base. He's got a .915 OPS and a 158 OPS+. He's played mostly against right-handed pitching, but there have been calls to get him in the lineup every day, even despite the platoon disadvantages that it would create.
