On Sunday night, it was reported that the Seattle Mariners were promoting top prospects Lazaro Montes and Michael Arroyo to Triple-A Tacoma after successful runs at Double-A Arkansas.

Both players are described as "bat-first" guys who will impact the game offensively, but there are questions about their defense.

Arroyo has split time between second base and left field as the team attempts to find a spot for him, and Montes, because of his size, is seen as more of a designated hitter than an outfielder.

But if his first two games in Triple-A are any indication, he's working to change that perception.

Montes made multiple outstanding catches on Wednesday night in the Rainiers game against Las Vegas.

Montes may never win a Gold Glove at the big-league level, but if he has the ability to play out there more capably than we initially thought, he could give the Mariners options that we didn't think they had.

At the plate, Montes was 0-for-4 with three strikeouts, though he did have two walks in the 9-7 win.

He recorded his first multi-hit game at Triple-A, and got his first RBI as well. Given the ability to play second base and the outfield, there is at least a chance that he could come up to the Mariners later this season.

With Randy Arozarena a free agent at the end of the season, there's also a chance that Arroyo could become the M's left fielder in 2027.

--After getting shut out 2-0 by the Miami Marlins on Wednesday, the Mariners (47-46) are just 0.5 games up in the American League West. They'll look to avoid the sweep against the Marlins on Thursday afternoon with first pitch coming at 3:40 p.m. PT.

If they are going to do that, they'll have the right man for the job on the mound. Bryce Miller has been one of the best pitchers in baseball since coming off the injured list in mid-May.

--Also: This is a reminder that the MLB Draft kicks off on Saturday in Philadelphia. The Mariners are picking No. 24 overall, which is a far cry from the No. 3 selection they had a year ago.
