The longtime Seattle Mariners reporter discusses the Cal Raleigh and Randy Arozarena issue, how the Mariners will have it, George Kirby's development and Bryce Miller's injury.
The newest episode of the 'Refuse to Lose' podcast is out, talking about the Seattle Mariners clubhouse drama between Cal Raleigh and Randy Arozarena, Bryce Miller's injury and the prognosis for the starting rotation moving forward, as well as George Kirby's growth, development and his desire to use his own PitchCom device.
Furthermore, we are joined by Seattle Times reporter Ryan Divish, who talked about all of those things, plus more experiences from his career.
With regards to Arozarena, this is just a portion of Divish's comments on the situation:
"Oh, I'm sure they're gonna have conversations with him just because even if there was a problem, you don't air your dirty laundry through the media. You don't do it in that way. If you've got a problem, you handle it, you know?
I think that that is a conversation. 'That's not what we do. We'll discuss it internally...' Randy puts in the effort and the time. Like, he's in there. He hits plenty in the cage. He does his work. They've never, ever questioned whether he plays hard or prepares to play. I mean he likes to play.
It's funny, like, when he does certain things, he always puts on the full uniform because he isn't one of those guys just wearing a sweatshirt out there. It's just kind of how he does it, but you know, he's also just a different guy. And I think being around him, he is more of a loner. Like, you'll see him talking with Julio (Rodriguez) and Leo (Rivas) and all those guys, but he has his own life and he's not like going out and hanging out with a bunch of guys all the time, and stuff like that.
He's got his family, he does what he does. You know, he was always kind of like that when he was in Tampa. So, I think you can exist without everybody being the best of friends and hanging out all the time. The requirement for the Mariners is to prepare hard, play hard, be a good person. And in no ways has Randy kind of went against that..."
