Joe Doyle joined the most recent edition of the 'Refuse to Lose Territory' podcast to break down the M's draft class.
So far, much of the attention on the Seattle Mariners draft has been paid to first-round pick Ace Reese of Mississippi State.
We've spoken to his head coach Brian O'Connor this week to learn more about his power, and his ability to potentially stick at third base.
However, the M's made 19 other selections in the MLB Draft, which concluded last Sunday. And we got the full skinny on those selections from OverSlot Baseball founder Joe Doyle on Friday's edition of the 'Refuse to Lose Territory' podcast.
While Doyle had some questions about the selection of Reese, he said he loved the selection of LSU outfielder Jake Brown in the second round.

I think there is loads of untapped potential in Jake Brown. He just gave up being a two-way player a year and a half ago. I think he's really gonna explode with player development.
And then, kind of like you mentioned, Nathan Taylor: seven feet of extension, up to 96, really good slider. That is the type of player that Seattle has transformed into a big league-caliber starting pitcher year in and year out, and I think they've got an excellent ball of clay with him as well.
So, not a huge fan of the Ace Reese pick, but I also fully admit I don't know who I would've taken that went behind Ace Reese either. Just 24 was a tough slot."
Brown, who just finished his junior year at LSU, was teammates with Kade Anderson as the Tigers won the national title in 2025. He hit .309 this season with a .404 on-base percentage. He had 16 homers, 49 RBIs and nine stolen bases.
As for Taylor, who pitched at Cincinnati? He's the school's all-time leader in wins (22) and he's third in strikeouts. He was a three-time All-Big 12 selection who went 7-3 this season with a 3.60 ERA.
He's another exciting name to add to a system that already has Anderson and Ryan Sloan, two of the top prospects in baseball.
