The Mariners will close out their homestand against the Braves looking to right the ship

SEATTLE — The Seattle Mariners will close out the second leg of their six-game homestand with a three-game series against the Atlanta Braves.

Game one of the series begins at 6:40 p.m. PT on Monday at T-Mobile Park in Seattle.

Both teams will enter the series at very different spots.

Seattle is 16-19 and coming off a three-game sweep at the hands of the Kansas City Royals.

Atlanta is 25-10 and recently swept the Colorado Rockies.

Here's the pitching matchups for the series between the Braves and the Mariners:

May 4: Logan Gilbert (Seattle, 1-3, 4.03 ERA) vs. JR Ritchie (Atlanta, 1-0, 2.92 ERA)

Logan Gilbert is coming off just his second outing of the season allowing just one earned run in his latest start against the Minnesota Twins on April 28. However, he failed to make it through the sixth inning for fifth time in seven starts.

Gilbert struck out four, walked one, hit a batter and allowed one earned run on six hits in five innings pitched.

JR Ritchie, a Bainbridge Island, Wash., native, will be looking to get back to the form he showed in his first start of his major league career against the Washington Nationals on April 23.

In his latest appearance against the Detroit Tigers on April 29, Ritchie fanned four, walked four, and allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits (one home run) in 5.1 innings pitched.

May 5: George Kirby (Seattle, 4-2, 3.00 ERA) vs. Bryce Elder (Atlanta, 3-1, 1.88 ERA)

George Kirby was also unable to get through six innings in his own outing against the Twins on April 29. He struck out five, walked two and allowed two earned runs on eight hits in 5.2 innings pitched.

Bryce Elder is coming off a third consecutive quality starts against the Tigers on April 30. He fanned five, walked three and allowed one earned run on six hits in six innings pitched.

May 6: Bryan Woo (Seattle, 1-2, 4.61 ERA) vs. Grant Holmes (Atlanta, 2-1, 4.34 ERA)

Bryan Woo, the M's' only All-Star from the starting rotation last season, will look to get back to his usual form after allowing at least six earned runs in two-straight starts. He struck out two and allowed six earned runs on seven hits (two home runs) in six innings pitched against the Royals on May 1.

Grant Holmes is coming off his own outing where he allowed six runs. He fanned four, walked three and allowed six runs (five earned) on seven hits (one homer) in five innings pitched against the Colorado Rockies on May 1.
