The Mariners will look to continue their momentum from their series win against the Atlanta Braves

The Seattle Mariners are coming off one of their most impressive series wins of the season this week.

The Mariners beat the Atlanta Braves 3-1 on Wednesday, handing the visitors its first series loss of the season.

The series win was much-needed for Seattle (18-20) after being swept in the series prior by the Kansas City Royals.

The Mariners will look to keep their momentum rolling in a seven-game road trip, which begins with a three-game set against the Chicago White Sox starting at 4:40 p.m. PT on Friday at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago.

Here's the pitching matchups for the series between Seattle and Chicago: 

May 8: Emerson Hancock (Seattle, 2-1, 2.59 ERA) vs. Sean Burke (Chicago, 2-2, 2.72 ERA)

Emerson Hancock will get the first turn in the series against the White Sox coming off the best outing of his career.

Hancock struck out a career-high 14 batters, didn't issue a free base and allowed one earned run on six hits in seven innings pitched against the Royals on May 2. It was his fifth quality start of the season in seven outings.

Sean Burke is coming off his second-consecutive scoreless quality start. He fanned eight, walked one and allowed four hits in six innings pitched against the San Diego Padres on May 2. He's posted three-straight quality starts.

May 9: Luis Castillo (Seattle, 0-3, 6.29 ERA) vs. Anthony Kay (Chicago, 1-1, 5.70 ERA)

Luis Castillo will be looking to build off just his second six-inning appearance of the season. He struck out five, walked two, hit a batter and allowed four earned runs on six hits in six innings pitched against Kansas City on May 3.

Castillo's outing against the Royals was his first time pitching through the sixth inning since his first start of the season against the New York Yankees on March 30.

Anthony Kay will be entering Saturday's game looking for his first quality start of the season. He fanned five, walked one and allowed three runs (two earned) on seven hits (two home runs) in five innings pitched against the Padres on May 3.

May 10: Logan Gilbert (Seattle, 2-3, 4.30 ERA) vs. Davis Martin (Chicago, 5-1, 1.64 ERA)

Logan Gilbert went through the sixth inning in his outing against the Braves on May 4 but had a mixed outing. He struck out four, walked two and allowed four earned runs on six hits (four home runs) in six innings of work. All of his runs allowed came via solo home runs.

Davis Martin will be closing out the series for the White Sox coming off a shutout outing. He fanned 10 and allowed five hits in seven innings pitched against the Los Angeles Angels on May 4.
