The Seattle Mariners beat the Baltimore Orioles 6-5 in a wild back-and-forth game on Tuesday night at Camden Yards. The Mariners have now taken the first two games of the four-game set from the Orioles, improving to 36-32 in the process. They lead the American League West by three games over the Texas Rangers.

Though the M's have won both games, neither win has been comfortable, with the Mariners and Orioles needing extra-innings on Tuesday after the M's bullpen blew a second game in its last three chances.

With the game tied at 4-4 in the top of the 10th, Randy Arozarena hit a two-run home run that proved to be the winner, giving him seven blasts for the season.

Not only did Arozarena hit the home run, he did it while making some personal history. As noted by @MLBStats, Arozarena's home run came on a pitch that was 1.20 feet from the center of the plate. That pitch was the furthest outside of any home run in his career.

It's been an excellent season for Arozarena, who is playing like an All-Star again. In addition to his seven home runs, he has 33 RBIs, 18 stolen bases and a .299 average entering play on Wednesday. His 18 stolen bases and his 18 doubles are both in the top five of all players in the league.

In addition to helping the Mariners secure victories, Arozarena is also working to secure himself a nice payday. A free agent at the end of the year, he's one of the top bats available in a generally average to below-average free agent class.

He's been one of the most valuable left fielders in the American League, as noted by Fangraphs WAR.

The Mariners and their overtaxed pitching staff could really use a solid start on Wednesday night from right-hander George Kirby, who failed to make it out of the fifth inning last Wednesday against the New York Mets.

Kirby and the Mariners will take on the Orioles and right-hander Brandon Young in the penultimate game of the four-game series. First pitch is slated for 3:35 p.m. PT.
