After advancing to the American League Championship Series in 2025, the Seattle Mariners have been given solid odds to win the World Series in 2026.
According to a graphic shared by FOX Sports: MLB, the Mariners are +1300 to win the next Fall Classic, which has them tied for fourth with the Houston Astros and behind the Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies.
Ironically, the M's have better odds than the Blue Jays team that advanced to the World Series this year, taking the Dodgers to seven games.
We are two days into the offseason. Roster moves will be made and health will change. We will have a much more full idea of how these teams look when we head to spring training in February, and then again once the teams take the field in late March for Opening Day.
For starters, the Mariners play in (what is for now) an average division. The Mariners and Astros were the only teams to finish over .500 in 2025, so the prognosticators are likely banking on the division being easier to win, and if the division is easier to win, you have an exponentially better chance of reaching/winning the World Series.
Furthermore, the Mariners won 90 games this season and they did it while losing four starting pitchers at different times. If the M's are healthy on the rotation front in 2026, they certainly could be better.
Also: Cal Raleigh and Julio Rodriguez are awesome, and each put up MVP-caliber years. They are stars in their prime, and that always bodes well for success.

Free agency, for starters. The Mariners could lose Josh Naylor, Eugenio Suarez and Jorge Polanco, which would knock out more than 50 home runs from this year's powerful lineup.
Secondarily, Raleigh hit 60 homers this season. Is that going to happen again? If he regresses to even a "normal" amount like 35, that's another 25 home runs gone.
And the pitching rotation is never a sure thing. The M's had four starters injured, and once the cloak of invincibility has been lifted, you're never sure if you'll get it back.
