Playing against the Tampa Bay Rays on Saturday, Gilbert hit the 1,000-strikeout mark.
Congratulations are in order for Seattle Mariners pitcher Logan Gilbert, who hit a historic milestone in the second inning of Saturday's start against the Tampa Bay Rays.
With his second strikeout of the day, Gilbert recorded the 1,000th of his career. He's just the second right-hander in team history to hit that mark, joining Felix Hernandez. He is the fifth pitcher in total to hit that, joining Hernandez, Randy Johnson, Jamie Moyer and Mark Langston.

join Félix Hernández (2,524 strikeouts), Randy Johnson (2,162), Jamie Moyer (1,239) and Mark Langston (1,039)...Gilbert would join King Félix as the only right-handers to tally 1,000+ strikeouts in a Mariners uniform.
A former first-round pick from Stetson, Gilbert made his major league debut in 2021 and has been an integral part of the Mariners ever since.
An All-Star in 2024, Gilbert has been part of playoff teams in 2022 and 2025. He was a borderline All-Star this year as well.
The 29-year-old entered the game at 7-5 through 19 starts with an ERA just over three. He'll be on the mound next after the All-Star break.

The Mariners opted to use their first pick in the 2026 MLB Draft to take one of the best power-hitting college bats available.
With the 24th overall pick, the Mariners selected third baseman Ace Reese out of Mississippi State.
Reese was the 18th overall prospect available in the draft, per MLB.com.
He had 24 home runs this past season for the Bulldogs, and you can read our full story via Teren Kowatsch here. The Mariners signed him to a $3.5 million bonus, slightly underslot.
"Not only are the guys in (player development) excited, we're excited," Seattle vice president of amateur scouting Scott Hunter said following the pick Saturday at T-Mobile Park. "The information that comes back from our analysts show that he's probably one of the top three hitters in the country and it profiles as a guy that's gonna go out and have success right away. I don't like to put a timetable on a player, but to do the things he was doing in the SEC, which is a totally different animal of baseball these days for college sports, it's really impressive."
