Instant analysis
--The big standout note is that Bryan Woo is on the roster. He hasn't pitched since suffering right pectoral inflammation on Sept. 19 against the Houston Astros. One of the top starters in the American League, he went 15-7 with a 2.94 ERA this season. An All-Star for the first time, he made 30 starts. It's unclear how he'll factor into the series, but the fact that he's here is a big one.
Shannon Drayer of Seattle Sports 710 says Woo is likely to be on a pitch count when he does appear.
He is not expected to pitch early in the series and is likely to be on a limited pitch count when he does make an appearance.
--Miles Mastrobuoni is on the roster, when he wasn't on the ALDS squad. The Blue Jays are a right-handed dominant staff and Mastrobuoni gives the Mariners another left-handed hitter. He replaces Ben Williamson, who didn't see any time in the ALDS.
--Catcher Harry Ford stays on the roster, which gives the M's flexibility late in games. If Mitch Garver comes into hit for any reason and then gets hit for later, Ford gives the M's an extra catcher.
--Luke Raley, who hit just .202 and went hitless in limited ALDS appearances, is not on the roster. He's replaced by the extra pitcher, which is Bryan Woo. It should be noted that with Raley gone, Mastrobuoni is now the backup first baseman.
Blue Jays roster info
--Standout shortstop Bo Bichette is not on the roster. He hasn't played since Sept. 6 because of a left knee sprain.
--Veteran starters Chris Bassitt and Max Scherzer ARE on the roster. They did not make the ALDS roster in a shorter series.
Game 1
--Bryce Miller will pitch for Seattle against Kevin Gausman. First pitch is 5:03 p.m. PT.
