The Seattle Mariners had an extremely successful end to their six-game road trip.

After losing two-of-three to the Kansas City Royals, the Mariners swept the Athletics in a three-game series from Monday through Wednesday to take sole possession of first place in the American League West.

In addition to being back in the driver's seat of the division, Seattle is also starting to get healthier after suffering several injuries in the early portion of the season.

The Mariners have experienced injuries the bullpen, infield, outfield, starting rotation and at catcher.

But after recently getting reliever Matt Brash back into the mix, Seattle saw the return of high-leverage left-handed reliever Gabe Speier during the series against the Athletics. The Mariners also saw the return of outfielder Victor Robles on the road trip.

It's been a tumultuous last two seasons for Robles, but he reestablished his value to the team in the series against the Athletics.

In the final two games of the series, Robles got it done on both ends of the field.

On Tuesday, Robles went a perfect 3-for-3, including a double, and scored a run.

In the series finale Wednesday, Robles made two outstanding catches in the outfield en route to a 9-1 victory.

Both catches were diving grabs early in the game, with the first preserving potential extra-bases.

In 2024, Robles was arguably the biggest midseason pick-up of the season for the Mariners. He had an .860 OPS in 77 games after being signed by Seattle on June 4.

Seattle rewarded Robles' amazing second half with a two-year, $9.75 million contract, but he's has struggled to replicate his '24 success since.

Robles entered 2025 as the team's presumptive everyday starter in right field. He suffered a left shoulder dislocation and fracture in early April that limited him to just 32 games. He finished the year with a slash line of .245/.281/.330 with a .611 OPS and hit four doubles, a triple and a home run with nine RBIs.

The former top 100 prospect entered this year as the team's platoon right fielder against left-handed starting pitching. But he's struggled to stay on the field this year as well. He was placed on the 10-day injured list April 8 (retroactive to April 7) with a right pec strain.

In just nine games this year, Robles has slashed .292/.292/.375 with a .667 OPS and has hit two doubles with an RBI.

Robles and Luke Raley will likely continue to split time as the team's starters against southpaws and right-handed hurlers, respectively. Even with opportunities, this week's series was a good reminder of what Robles can do when he's healthy.

The Mariners are off on Thursday, but will be back at it again on Friday night at home against the Arizona Diamondbacks, who have won 10 of 11 games.
