The group of Bryan Woo, George Kirby and Logan Gilbert has been excellent since entering the league.

The Seattle Mariners defeated the Texas Rangers 5-2 on Sunday afternoon to take their second consecutive series at T-Mobile Park.

Though the first month of the season has been a slog, the M's are inching back toward .500 at 10-13. They'll open up a new series against the division rival Athletics on Monday night at 6:40 p.m. PT.

Rob Refsnyder, JP Crawford and Randy Arozarena each homered in Sunday's win and Bryan Woo was tremendous on the mound over seven innings.

The 26-year-old earned his first win of the season, giving up just two runs on four hits while striking out six.

Even beyond Woo, the Mariners' pitching staff has been excellent this season, with their 13 quality starts leading baseball. And beyond this season, the trio of Woo, George Kirby and Logan Gilbert has been historically good, as noted by Alex Mayer of the Mariners PR team:

Bryan Woo, George Kirby & Logan Gilbert are 3 of just 11 pitchers in @MLB history with 400+ strikeouts & less than 100 walks in their first 75 career starts. In all 3 of their 75th career starts, #7️⃣5️⃣ Andrés Muñoz recorded a scoreless relief appearance!

Talk about the serendipity of it all...

About Woo

A native of Oakland, Calif., Woo was an unheralded sixth round pick in the 2021 MLB Draft. He made his major league debut in 2023 and turned into an All-Star in 2025.

Thus far, he's 29-17 in his career with a 3.14 ERA. He won a career-best 15 games in 2025 as the M's advanced to the American League Championship Series, losing to Toronto.

As for Kirby

A first-round pick of the M's in 2019 out of Elon, Kirby ascended to an All-Star in 2023. One of the best control pitchers in the sport, he's won double-digit games in each of the last three seasons, even despite being hurt for a portion of 2025. He's out to a 3-2 start with a 2.97 ERA through five starts this year.

And Gilbert

The Florida native was a first-round pick of the M's in 2018 out of Stetson and was an All-Star in 2024. Lifetime, he's 48-39 with a 3.59 ERA. He led baseball in innings pitched (208.2) in 2024 and also registered 220 strikeouts that season.

This year, he's 1-3 with a 4.03 ERA through five starts. He has 32 strikeouts in 29 innings.
