SEATTLE — The Seattle Mariners will look to snap a three-series losing streak in the second of a three-game series against the Los Angeles Angels at 6:40 p.m. PT on Tuesday at T-Mobile Park.

The Mariners beat the Angels in the first game of the series 6-2 on Monday. Both Los Angeles' runs came in the first three innings.

Seattle's bullpen was able to get a rest in the first game of the series after an eight-inning quality start from George Kirby, but the Mariners still made the decision to shuffle the bullpen in anticipation of the high quantity of left-handed hitters they'll see in the near future.

Ahead of game two against the Angels, the Mariners recalled right-handed reliever Cole Wilcox from the Triple-A Tacoma Rainiers. They optioned left-handed pitcher Josh Simpson to Triple-A in a corresponding move.

This stint will be Wilcox's second of the season in the major leagues.

Wilcox was recalled from Triple-A and stayed on the major league option until he was optioned back down May 4.

In his first stint with Seattle, Wilcox posted a 5.40 ERA and struck out 15 batters in 13.1 innings pitched across 11 appearances.

In Triple-A this season, Wilcox has a 5.03 ERA and has fanned 24 hitters in 19.2 innings of work across 17 outings.

This year is Wilcox's first with the Mariners. He was acquired in a trade between Seattle and the Tampa Bay Rays on Nov. 5, 2025, in return for cash considerations.

Simpson, who was acquired by Seattle in a deal with the Miami Marlins on Feb. 16, 2026, made four appearances in the major leagues this season. He had a 9.00 ERA with three strikeouts in as many innings of work across four outings.

Adding Wilcox back to the bullpen will give the Mariners extra arms against left-handed hitters.

Four of the nine hitters in Los Angeles' starting lineup Tuesday are righties. Of the four hitters on the bench for the Angels, three are righties and one is a switch-hitter.

Seattle will have an off-day Wednesday before wrapping up the series against Los Angeles on Thursday. After that, the M's will close out the homestand with a three-game series against the Toronto Blue Jays from Friday through Sunday.

The Blue Jays have three lefties in their usual starting lineup and one switch hitter, catcher Alejandro Kirk, also often in the order.

Wilcox has allowed an opposing batting average of .250 with a .324 on-base percentage against left-handed batters compared to a .391 batting average and a .576 on-base percentage against righties, per FanGraphs.
