After ditching ROOT Sports, what's next for M's fans?

Mariners television host Brad Adam on a January edition of the 'Refuse to Lose' podcast.

The Seattle Mariners shuttered ROOT Sports at the end of the 2025 season, leading to questions about how fans will be able to watch games in 2026. On Thursday, we got answers to those questions, as the Mariners unveiled Mariners.tv.

The Mariners website has a lot of great answers to frequently asked questions but here's what you need to know:

Mariners games will still be on television!

Even though ROOT Sports has ended operations, games will still be on traditional television. As we get closer to Opening Day, we will learn exactly which providers will carry a television broadcast - and what channel they will be on - but this is good news.

Mariners games will stream for fans in-market

Mariners.tv will be available to fans in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Alaska and Hawaii. The app will cost $99 for the season or $19.99 per month. You will be able to watch all Mariners games that aren't subjected to national broadcasts. The M's do have a handful of games of NBC/Peacock, as well as Apple TV, so those games will not be available. Any games on FOX or ESPN will not be available either.

What about out-of-market fans?

If you live outside of those states listed above, you can't get Mariners.tv. You will have to order the MLB.tv App, which is now being run through ESPN. That price point will be higher and will allow you to watch every game. It has traditionally been $149 for the season.

What about in-market fans who want to watch all the games?

You're going to get doubled-up on. You will have to purchase both apps. The MLB.tv app will NOT allow you to watch Mariners games. Mariners.tv is the only place where in-market fans can do that - unless you're television provider carries the games.

When can I sign up?

Sign-ups begin on Feb. 10, but you may want to wait to sign up until you see if your cable provider will have the games.

What else do I need to know?

--A handful of spring training games have been available on traditional television in the past. We have not gotten word yet on how many spring games will be available or if all will be available through Mariners.tv.

--Opening Day is March 26. The Mariners will play host to the Cleveland Guardians in that series. The first Cactus League game is Feb. 20 against the Padres.

--Prior to this announcement, Mariners television host Brad Adam joined the 'Refuse to Lose' podcast. You can listen to that here.
