The Seattle Mariners had the most successful playoff run in franchise history this year.
The Mariners advanced to Game 7 of the American League Championship Series before ultimately falling 4-3 to the Toronto Blue Jays.
There was no solace among the team in the defeat, despite getting closer than any team in franchise history.
Players, coaches and front office executives shared their disappointment in the days that followed the loss, and made it clear that the team would be determined to return and exceed those heights in 2026.
Despite the disappointment, there were several iconic moments during Seattle's playoff run that will be a part of the franchise's history.
One of those moments was the final at-bat in Game 5 of an American League Divisional Series against the Detroit Tigers on Oct. 10 at T-Mobile Park.
The win-or-go-home Game 5 went to the bottom of the 15th inning. With the bases loaded and one out, second baseman Jorge Polanco hit an RBI single that brought home shortstop J.P. Crawford for the game-winning run.
That run sent the Mariners to their first ALCS since 2001, and the hit resulted in a reaction from the home crowd in Seattle that registered by the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network.
That hit will also be forever immortalized in baseball history. Crawford will send the baseball spikes he wore for the game-winning run to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y.
Crawford is the longest-tenured player in the Mariners organization. He was acquired by the team in a trade with the Philadelphia Phillies on Dec. 3, 2018.
During the regular season, Crawford scored 69 runs in 157 games and hit 24 doubles and 12 home runs with 58 RBIs. He slashed .265/.352/.370 with a .722 OPS.
In the playoffs, Crawford scored thrice in 12 games and hit a double and a homer with four RBIs. He slashed .200/.261/.300 with a .561 OPS.
Crawford is under contract through next season.
