Kade Anderson is moving up in the Baseball America rankings, while Ryan Sloan saw a slight drop in the August update.
After the Major League Baseball draft in mid-July, Baseball America re-shuffled its prospect rankings to account for those players who were taken in the draft.
As a result, Seattle Mariners prospect Kade Anderson was dropped to the No. 8 prospect in the game, while pitcher Ryan Sloan held steady at No. 6.
Fast forward to Wednesday, and Baseball America has shuffled the deck once again:
According to the August update, Anderson has moved from No. 8 up to No. 6 while Sloan has dropped to No. 9.

Drafted No. 3 overall out of LSU in the 2025 draft, Anderson has roared through the Double-A ranks in his first exposure to professional baseball.
He's 9-1 with a 1.20 ERA in 16 starts for the Arkansas Travelers. In 82.1 innings, he has 119 strikeouts and just 12 walks, and opponents are hitting only .149 against him. He recently represented the Mariners in the Futures Game, throwing a scoreless inning.
It seems highly likely that Anderson will make his debut for the Mariners this season, but Jerry Dipoto was fairly adamant that he's not going to transition to the bullpen until September, if at all.
He's being built up as a starter and will continue to be.
About Sloan
A second-round pick in 2024, Sloan is also playing at Double-A Arkansas. Still just 20 years old, Sloan has had a bigger adjustment to the level than Anderson has, but he's still had excellent moments and continues to improve. He's 2-2 with a 3.50 ERA in 72.0 innings. He's struck out 88 batters and walked just 15. Opponents are hitting .256 off him.
He's the youngest pitcher in Double-A this year, and he also just represented the Mariners at the Futures Game, also delivering a scoreless outing.
While there's a chance that he could contribute this season, there's also something that could limit his opportunity as we move forward.
