The Seattle Mariners beat the Baltimore Orioles 3-0 on Thursday afternoon behind Bryan Woo's dominant seven-inning performance on the mound.

However, Woo did leave the M's in a precarious situation in the top of the eighth, allowing the first two runners to reach before being replaced by Eduard Bazardo.

Bazardo promptly got a 5-3 forceout, a pop-up to center field and a strikeout to end the inning. The right-hander, now 30, is 3-2 this season with a 2.16 ERA. He's struck out 29 batters in 33.1 innings. And he deserves a bit of praise, as we noted on the most recent 'Refuse to Lose Territory' podcast.

"I want to give a shout out to Eduard Bazardo, because we saw Bazardo on Tuesday and on Thursday.

He's got five scoreless outings in his last six, and his ERA is hovering around two right now. Eduard Bazardo has been, I think, much better than he gets credit for.

And I think last year Eduard Bazardo burst onto the scene. And I don't know that the numbers bear this out, but I know that the perception for me is that Eduard Bazardo got so trustworthy that basically he was making everything look easy.

Eduard Bazardo essentially made everything look easy. In 2025, that's what it felt like. And in 2026, even though the overall numbers are good, it hasn't felt that easy. We've seen more traffic, we've seen a hit here, we've seen a walk there. We've seen him behind in the count, we've seen the inherited runners score. Even though ERA isn't reflected for him, some of the inherited runners have scored.

Things have been more difficult for Eduard Bazardo this year, at least it feels like. And here we are, five out of six now scoreless outings.

And I don't know that there's any real relief coming for this bullpen until around the trade deadline. Matt Brash being out is a huge storyline for this team.

So with Brash out, somebody internally is going to have to step up. And Bazardo is right at the top of the list, especially among the right-handers."

A six-year veteran of the Boston Red Sox, Orioles and Mariners, Bazardo is 11-2 in his career with a 2.98 ERA. He appeared in a career-high 73 games last season as the Mariners got to the American League Championship Series.

He's already appeared in 35 this season as well.

First pitch of the M's and Red Sox new series on Friday is set for 7:10 p.m. PT.
