How much will Josh Naylor, Jorge Polanco and Eugenio Suarez cost this winter? The Athletic has their projections.

Coming off a season in which they advanced to Game 7 of the American League Championship Series, the Seattle Mariners have significant work to do if they want to get back there again in 2026.

The first thing Seattle needs to deal with is the situation of its three major free agents: Josh Naylor, Eugenio Suarez and Jorge Polanco (likely). Seattle would undoubtedly like to bring back each of them, but it may not be financially feasible and they need to be prepared to pivot if they are unable to bring them back.

The Athletic released its free agent predictions on Monday morning, giving an estimate as to how much each of those players would cost the Mariners.

    Naylor: 4-years, $90 million

Bringing back Naylor has been called a priority for the M's this offseason, for several reasons. First off, he's the youngest of the three players (28) and plays a position (1B) that the Mariners don't have an answer for in the minor leagues.

He excelled with Seattle after a midseason trade, hitting .299 with nine homers, 33 RBIs and 19 stolen bases. He also hit three home runs in the ALCS as the Mariners lost to the Blue Jays in seven games. He's a player that likes hitting at T-Mobile Park and a player that brings the M's energy and toughness.

Seattle is expected to have about $30-32 million to spend this offseason, and this deal could take up a potential huge chunk of that. Of course, the Mariners could backload the deal or get creative in order to allow themselves the ability to get Naylor - and others - into the fold.

    Suarez: 3-years, $72 million

Suarez hit 49 home runs in 2025 with the Diamondbacks and Mariners, but he generally struggled overall in Seattle, hitting .189 with 13 home runs in 53 regular season games. He has immense power, and he's beloved by the organization, but at $24 million a year? It seems likely that the M's would have to let him go and play with Ben Williamson at the hot corner in 2026. He's 34-years-old and it's unlikely the Mariners want to pay him until he's 37.

However, no matter what happens, Suarez did hit one of the biggest home runs in team history, blasting this go-ahead grand slam in Game 5 of the ALCS.

    Polanco: 2-years, $26 million

The 32-year-old put together a great year in 2025, hitting .265 with 26 homers and 78 RBIs. He posted a 134 OPS+ and also provided several big moments in the playoffs.

The Mariners can afford that deal as well, but there's a question as to where Polanco could play moving forward. Would Seattle want to put him at second base and block Cole Young? Would they want to put him at DH, and if so, what happens when Cal Raleigh needs time at the position?

These are just some of the things that Seattle has to think about moving forward, but with $30-32 million available, there will be tough decisions to make.
