Casey Lawrence will be making his trek back to the Pacific Northwest after an eventful 2025

Due to various injuries to the starting rotation and bullpen early this past season, the Seattle Mariners had to go deep into their organizational pitching depth.

And the Mariners recently brought back a veteran pitcher that received several opportunities amidst all the turmoil to the staff.

Seattle signed right-handed pitcher Casey Lawrence to a minor league deal Thursday.

Next will mark Lawrence's third consecutive with the organization and fifth overall.

This past year, Lawrence was the Mariners' "No. 7" starting pitcher in Cactus League action. During the regular season, he was brought up for long relief or as an innings-eater on a rare bullpen day.

Lawrence posted a 3.00 ERA with six strikeouts in 15 innings pitched across five appearances for Seattle. His last outing for the M's was against the Chicago White Sox on May 20.

In the minor leagues, Lawrence had a 5.31 ERA and fanned 54 batters in 100 innings pitched across 20 outings (19 starts) with the Triple-A Tacoma Rainiers.

Lawrence, 38-years-old, was involved in a slew of transactions this year due to not having minor league options available.

Lawrence's contract was selected April 9; he was designated for assignment April 14; re-signed by Seattle on April 17; DFA'd April 20; outrighted to Triple-A on April 22; DFA'd April 26; claimed off waivers by the Toronto Blue Jays on April 28 (where he made one appearance); DFA'd by Toronto on April 30; re-signed with the Mariners on May 7; DFA'd May 20; re-signed May 24; DFA'd June 7; and re-signed June 10.

Lawrence fanned one, hit a batter and allowed three earned runs on six hits in 2.2 innings pitched in his lone appearance this past season with the Blue Jays.

Lawrence is a veteran arm that is capable of filling a spot in the Triple-A starting rotation. He's also able to step in for Seattle in case of emergency and clearly the M's valued his contributions enough to bring him back for 2026.
