In the second game of their three-game match-up with the defending World Series Champions, the Fish will look to Phillips for a weekend win
Following a Friday night loss, 6-2, to the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Miami Marlins will send Tyler Phillips to the hill, who will be looking to even his record on the year.
Phillips (5-6, 3.51 ERA, 93 strikeouts) is looking to solidify his spot with the South Florida next season. With Max Meyer, Sandy Alcantara, and Eury Perez already locked in, and prospect Thomas White forecasted to start, Phillips could be in line to be the fifth starter for the Fish. That would be a fairly impressive group for a team on the rise, so a strong showing the rest of the way is highly beneficial to the 28-year-old... unless he actually wants to return to the relief corps.
Phillips will face LA's righthander Tyler Glasnow, who is 4-0 on the year, with a 3.12 ERA, and 70 Ks. It's a battle that's not exactly a barn-burner, as the Fish have floundered in the late months of the 2026 baseball calendar.
The Marlins (72-76) still haven't been technically eliminated from the postseason, but realistically, their season is over. With nothing to play for, they will look to play the spoiler

Some notable numbers to take a look at, heading into this afternoon's contest:
Javier Sanoja enters the contest with a career-best 11-game hitting streak since Aug. 31, batting .422 (19x45) with a 1.114 OPS, 10 runs, one double, two triples, two homers, six RBI, two walks, and two strikeouts. His hitting streak is currently the longest in the National League.
Shortstop Otto Lopez leads Miami with his career-high nine triples this season, as the Fish get underway against LA. With another three-bagger, Lopez can become the sixth player in Marlins history to record 10+ triples in a season.
