Janson Junk’s stellar start and a relentless hitting attack fueled Miami’s road win in Toronto, extending their hot streak as the lineup capitalized on key scoring opportunities.
The Miami Marlins defeat the Toronto Blue Jays 8-2 at Rogers Centre behind a relentless offense and ace-like pitching from Janson Junk.
After three straight losses the Marlins (26-29) are on a four-game win streak after winning on the road against the Blue Jays (25-29).
The Marlins took advantage of opportunities at the plate as Javier Sanoja, Kyle Stowers, and Owen Caissie each had two RBI against the Blue Jays.
“A couple jabs, getting guys on base and cause chaos,” Liam Hicks told the Marlins Radio Network after the game. “That’s what we were trying to do.”
The scoring started at the top of the first inning for the Marlins. Otto Lopez hit a sacrifice fly to score Xavier Edwards who had previously doubled. Sanoja doubled in the top of the fifth inning before being brought home from a Caissie double to put the Marlins up 2-0.
The Blue Jays would finally get on the board in the bottom of the fifth inning. Yohendrick Pinango singled to center field, scoring Lenyn Sosa who had previously reached on a base hit, cutting the Miami lead to 2-1 after five innings.
The Marlins added three more runs in the sixth inning to increase the lead to 5-1. Stowers hit an RBI double to score Hicks, who had previously walked. Sonaja also hit an RBI double to score both Stowers, and Jakob Marsee who walked early in the inning.
The Blue Jays attempted to respond when Ernie Clement homered in the bottom of the inning bringing the score to 5-2.
The Marlins would have another three-run inning at the top of the eighth inning when Stowers hit another RBI, scoring Hicks who reached earlier in the inning. Marsee then grounded out, scoring Lopez who had earlier walked. Caissie singled, scoring Sanoja who reached on a fielder's choice.

In addition to each player having multiple RBI, Caissie, Sanoja, and Stowers all went 2-for-4 at the plate today. Stowers and Sanoja also each had two doubles today.
