Miami’s ace hits the mound for his 200th start, chasing franchise immortality and a 200-inning milestone against the Mets to cement his legacy at loanDepot park.

Miami Marlins ace RHP Sandy Alcantara enters Tuesday’s game against the New York Mets with a chance to make even more franchise history.

El Caballo will make his 200th career start for the Marlins and will look to tie Dontrelle Willis (2003-07) as the franchise’s all-time leader in home wins with 33. He already has the franchise record for innings pitched (1,262.2), quality starts (116), strikeouts (1,063), games started (199), and wins at loanDepot park (32). Alcantara is also the only Marlins pitcher to win a CybTounf Award (2022).

Alcantara, who leads the National League with 195.2 innings, will try to become the first pitcher of 2026 to surpass the 200-innings benchmark. It would be the third season of his career with over 200 innings pitched (2021, 2022). A typical outing from the star starter should suffice.

Alcantara has faced the Mets 19 times in his career and owns a 2.82 ERA with 104 strikeouts. In his most recent outing against New York, Alcantara threw a six-inning gem with only four hits allowed and five strikeouts in a 2-0 Marlins win on Aug. 2.
