Marlins ignite offensively, with every player hitting, to dominate the Giants. Power swings and relentless offense secure a decisive victory.

Everyone in the lineup recorded a hit as the Miami Marlins started their California road trip with a bang, winning 9-4 over the San Francisco Giants on Friday.

Jakob Marsee led off the game with a double and scored on an RBI double by second baseman Xavier Edwards. Liam Hicks quickly followed with a two-run home run to give the Marlins a 3–0 lead before Sandy Alcantara stepped to the mound.

“Marsee set the tone, really, a leadoff double to start the game,” Edwards told Marlins radio after the game. “I think we just had good at-bats up and down the lineup.”

Owen Cassie led off the second inning with a double and quickly scored on an RBI single by Graham Pauley, putting Miami up 4-0.

For the third straight inning, the Marlins led off with a double. This time from Kyle Stowers, who scored on a sacrifice fly by Hicks to put Miami up 5-0 in the third inning.

The Marlins started the fourth inning with Caissie drawing a walk and Pauley reaching on a base hit. That set the stage for Connor Norby to hit a three-run home run and extend the Marlins’ lead to 8-0.

Giants right-hander Adrian Houser lasted four innings allowing eight runs on 11 hits and one walk with two strikeouts. After his third loss of the season, the 33-year-old veteran’s ERA ballooned to 7.36 on the season.

“We had a good plan off Houser,” Edwards said, “and we stuck to it.”

The Giants finally got to Alcantara in the fifth inning and reached the scoreboard with a three-run rally. Heliot Ramos doubled and scored on a single by Drew Gilbert. Eric Haase drove him home on a double and later scored on a single by Luis Arraez.

The Marlins added an insurance run in the sixth inning. Stowers hit his second double of the night and scored on a single by Otto Lopez, to put Miami up 9-3.

Alcantara ended his final inning of work with a strikeout. The Miami ace went six innings with three runs on nine hits with one walk and four strikeouts.

Jung Hoo Lee hit a solo home run in the eighth inning for the final run of the game. Lee and Arraez each had three hits and an RBI to lead the Giants at the plate.

Lake Bachar gave up one run on two hits with a strikeout in two innings of relief for the Marlins. John King closed the game with a hitless ninth inning of work.

Edwards, Lopez, and Stowers each collected three hits to lead the Marlins’ offensive barrage. Edwards improved his batting average to .347 through the first 26 games of the season.

“I try to have good at-bats,” Edwards said, “treat every at-bat as its own.”

Edwards has been hitting from the cleanup position recently despite only having five career home runs. His contact bat has paid off for the Marlins.

“I haven’t gotten as much chirps as I thought I would but I kind of like it. It’s something different for me,” Edwards said. “I’ve been coming up with ducks in the pond, as we like to say, and cashing them in.”

Eury Pérez (2-1, 4.15 ERA) takes the ball for the Marlins to start on Saturday against the Giants and Robby Ray (2-3, 2.86 ERA).
