Tommy Hutton's three granddaughters joined the legendary broadcaster at loanDepot park as the franchise celebrated three decades of insights and iconic calls ahead of his final season in the booth.

MIAMI — Before the Miami Marlins took the field Sunday at loanDepot park in an attempt to sweep the Washington Nationals, the club honored analyst Tommy Hutton on the field as part of a "Thank You Tommy Day."

Hutton’s family joined him on the field, and his three granddaughters each threw out a first pitch to their grandfather.

A video then played on the jumbotron highlighting some of Hutton’s most memorable moments and calls, while the Marlins.TV broadcast aired a video featuring some of Hutton’s former colleagues and players he covered, who gave him a special shoutout.

The 2026 season will be Hutton’s final one in the booth after 28 seasons.

Hutton spoke to the media in the Marlins dugout before first pitch, reflecting on his time with the organization and thanking Marlins Chairman, Principal Owner and Control Person Bruce Sherman and President of Business Operations Caroline O’Connor for bringing him back in 2022, when he rejoined the team as part of a rotation of in-game analysts.

Hutton’s connection to the Marlins dates back to the organization’s earliest days.

Hutton's coverage of the franchise began in 1997, and includes four seasons on the "Marlins Live" pregame/postgame set.

Over the years, Hutton has been behind the microphone for countless memorable moments, including the Marlins’ two World Series championships in 1997 and 2003.

His familiarity with the game, combined with his willingness to share stories and insight, made him a familiar voice to generations of Marlins fans.

Sunday’s celebration gave the organization and fans an opportunity to recognize Hutton’s contributions before he steps away from the booth following the club’s final series of the season at loanDepot park Sept. 25-27 against the Atlanta Braves.

Hutton’s career in broadcasting has spanned nearly three decades, but his baseball career began long before he joined the Marlins.

A former Major League Baseball player, Hutton played parts of 12 seasons as an infielder/outfielder for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Philadelphia Phillies, Toronto Blue Jays and Montreal Expos.

After his playing career ended, Hutton transitioned into broadcasting, eventually becoming a longtime fixture of Marlins television broadcasts.

His experience as a player allowed him to provide a unique perspective on the game while connecting with players, coaches and fans.

With the 2026 season marking the end of his time as a Marlins broadcaster, Sunday offered a chance for the organization to say thank you to one of its most recognizable and enduring voices.
