A seven-run sixth inning avalanche fueled by Mickey Moniak’s power surge buried Miami’s early lead, handing the struggling rotation a brutal double-digit loss in the Mile High City.

It’s one thing for the Miami Marlins to open July with a loss.

But to drop their second consecutive game, by 10 runs no less, is cause for concern.

Jake McCarthy and Mickey Moniak each hit a home run to lead the Colorado Rockies to a 14-4 win over the Marlins on Thursday to earn a split in the four-game series in Denver.

Moniak has hit a home run against the Marlins in three consecutive games and was a triple shy of the cycle.
