Miami Marlins reshape their major league dugout with a blend of returning talent and fresh faces, aiming to build on last year's surprise success.

We now know what the first Miami Marlins' coaching staff under second-year manager Clayton McCullough will look like.

The Marlins will be keeping seven coaches from last season's squad that surprised everybody by winning 79 games, improving from 62 wins the year before.

The coaches Miami is keeping are: Hitting coach Pedro Gurrero, third base coach Blake Lalli, field coordinator Aaron Leanhardt, bullpen coach Brandon Mann, pitching coach Daniel Moskos and bench coach Carson Vitale.

Joining the Marlins staff are infield coach Blake Butler, assistant hitting coaches Corbin Day and Chris Hess, first base coach, catching instructor Craig Driver and assistant pitching coach Rob Marcello.

Butler, just 32, had been coaching in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization for six seasons. In what ended up being his final season with the Pirates, Butler managed the High-A Greensboro Grasshoppers to the playoffs and won Manager of the Year in the South Atlantic League.

Day, just 28 years old, spent the 2025 season with the Minnesota Twins as an advanced scout, working in run production and supporting the team's hitting coaches. Before that, he was a hitting coach in the Twins organization, coaching in Double-A Wichita in 2024 and High-A Cedar Rapids in 2023.

Driver, 37, comes over from the World Champion Dodgers, where he worked with McCullough in 2024. Driver also worked with the Philadelphia Phillies, being their bullpen catcher in 2018-19, and then spent four seasons as the first base and catching coach of the Chicago Cubs.

Hess, 30, spent five seasons in the Boston Red Sox organization, spending the last two as the hitting coach for Double-A Portland in 2024-25.

The 35-year-old Marcello was already in the Marlins organization, having spent 2025 as the pitching coach for the Triple-A National Champion, Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp.

Marcello helped develop multiple top Miami prospects, such as Minor League Pitcher of the Year Robby Snelling and Thomas White, who is the team's No. 1 prospect per MLB Pipeline.

Before Miami, Marcello was the San Diego Padres' Director of Pitching from 2022 to 24. Before that, he was a pitching coach in the Seattle Mariners' organization, coaching in High-A Modesto from 2019-20 and Triple-A Tacoma in 2021.

It's a big year for the Marlins, who will look to build off of last year's surprise run that had the team in the Wildcard race for longer than most expected them to be.

Opening Day is scheduled for Friday, March 27, against the Colorado Rockies at 7:10 p.m.
