Following a second-half collapse and a record-breaking losing streak, Peter Bendix will address the media Tuesday to dissect what went wrong and outline Miami’s path back to contention.

MIAMI — We rarely get to hear from Miami Marlins President of Baseball Operations Peter Bendix, but that will change Tuesday at 11 a.m. ET at loanDepot park, the team confirmed this past weekend.

Bendix, who just completed his third season with the club, will address reporters during his end-of-season media availability. The session will provide an opportunity for Bendix to reflect on the 2026 season, discuss the organization’s progress and outline what could be ahead for the Marlins during an all-important offseason.

Bendix’s availability comes at an important point on the team’s calendar, with the season now complete and attention shifting toward roster decisions, player development and preparations for 2027.

Of course, Bendix would have preferred this media availability to come much later, but the Marlins, who finished the 2026 season 80-82, missed the playoffs for the second consecutive year under manager Clayton McCullough.

That leaves plenty for Bendix to address Tuesday, particularly regarding where the Marlins go from here.

Miami entered the season with expectations of taking another step forward after showing progress during McCullough’s first season as manager. Instead, the Marlins finished below .500 and will spend another October watching the postseason from home.

At one point in 2026, the Marlins were 52-42 and held a three-game lead for the final National League Wild Card spot.

The Marlins’ strong June helped put them in position to contend, but the momentum did not carry over into the second half.

Miami went 20-6 in June, turning a promising stretch into a legitimate playoff push before the season unraveled after the trade deadline.

The ensuing 12-game losing streak, a franchise worst, became the low point of a second half that ultimately ended the Marlins’ postseason hopes.

That stretch will likely be one of the biggest topics for Bendix, particularly as he evaluates what went right during the team’s best stretch of the season and what went wrong afterward.

Bendix also could be asked about the organization’s approach at the trade deadline and whether Miami should have been more aggressive with the team in position to make a postseason push.

Beyond the deadline, there are broader questions surrounding the roster. The Marlins will have to determine which players remain part of their long-term plans and where they need to add talent before the start of the 2027 season.

Player development also will be a focus, as Bendix frequently emphasizes, particularly with several young players gaining valuable major league experience throughout the season.
