The Marlins’ 2025 second-rounder stayed hot in Jacksonville, headlining a busy night across the farm system that featured standout performances from Kemp Alderman, Aiden May, and Santiago Solarte.
Miami Marlins’ No. 6 prospect Cam Cannarella notched a career-high four hits and his first Triple-A double in the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp’s 6-5 loss against the Worcester Red Sox on Friday.
Cannarella is batting .355 with a 1.027 OPS, 13 home runs, 47 RBI, and 12 stolen bases this season through three different minor league levels. The 22-year-old is slashing .292/.393/.500 through his first six games with the Jumbo Shrimp.
Cannarella became a high draft prospect after winning Atlantic Coast Conference freshman of the year honors in 2023. He increased his homer output as a sophomore at Clemson in 2024, and the Marlins took him in with the 43rd overall pick in the 2025 MLB Draft, signing him to an over-slot $2,227,425 bonus. He finished his first pro summer at High-A Beloit with a slash line of .284/.337/.375.
Much like the Marlins, the Jumbo Shrimp have also lost their 10th straight game. No. 7 prospect 1B Kemp Alderman gave the Jumbo Shrimp their only lead of the game with an RBI single in the third inning. Alderman leads Jacksonville with a .289 batting average. Jacksonville looks to snap its skid with No. 4 prospect RHP Karson Milbrandt (0-2, 5.67) on the mound for Saturday.
