From Triple-A power hitters to record-breaking teenagers in the Dominican Summer League, discover the standout performers fueling the next generation of Miami Marlins baseball.

The Miami Marlins recently announced the Most Valuable Player for their Minor League affiliates.

Triple-A Jacksonville MVP – OF Matthew Etzel

At 24 years of age, Etzel is the oldest of the Marlins minor league MVPs. He set career highs in doubles (20), runs scored (74), and walks (67), while slashing .241/.344/.428 with 41 extra-base hits and a career-high 19 home runs. Etzel also swiped 25 stolen bases on 32 attempts in his first season in the Marlins farm system. 

Double-A Pensacola MVP – OF Brandon Compton 

Compton, who spent 2026 across three different minor league levels, slashed .332/.421/.759 with 38 runs, 15 doubles, one triple, 21 home runs, 54 RBI and 27 walks in 50 games with the Pensacola Blue Wahoos. The Marlins No. 13th prospect led the Double-A affiliate in home runs and RBI while his 12 home runs in July were the most by a Marlins Double-A player in a single month as far back as 2005.

High-A Beloit MVP – LHP Nate Payne

Payne racked up 147 strikeouts over 111.0 innings across Single-A, including 93 with the Beloit Sky Carp. The Marlins No. 16 prospect was one of five Minor League pitchers to post a strikeout rate of at least 31.0 percent in at least 100 innings pitched.

Single-A Jupiter MVP – INF Echedry Vargas

A key part of the return package for Jake Burger, Vargas slashed .323/.372/.611 with 27 home runs and 94 RBI in 103 games. He won the Florida State League Triple Crown while leading the Jupiter Hammerheads to the Florida State League championship. 

Vargas was one of three Minor League players this season with at least 25 home runs and a batting average above .320.

FCL Marlins MVP - INF Juan Alva

A 20-year-old native of Mexico City, Alva led the Marlins of the Florida Complex League with a .318 batting average .933 OPS, 28 runs, and 13 stolen bases in 39 games.

DSL Marlins MVP – INF Santiago Solarte 

A 17-year-old native of Mérida, Ven., Solarte slashed .339/.450/.598 with 10 home runs and 47 RBI in 52 games. The Marlins’ No. 14 prospect was the only batter in the Dominican Summer League with at least 10 home runs and 40 stolen bases. His 42 total stolen bases, including seven steals of home, ranked fifth across Rookie-level baseball. 

DSL Miami MVP - OF Carlos De Los Santos

A 17-year-old native of Barahona, D.R., De Los Santos batted .375 with a .994 OPS, 45 hits and 64 total bases over 39 games in the Dominican Summer League. He recorded 28 runs, five doubles, one triple, four home runs, 26 RBI, 18 walks, and seven stolen bases in his first season with the Marlins organization.
