The Miami Marlins will salute two of the most defining figures in franchise history in the fall.
Josh Beckett and Dontrelle Willis will be inducted into the Marlins' Legends Hall of Fame as part of the 2026 class, the team announced Saturday at FanFest in Miami.
The Marlins' Legends Hall of Fame, opened last year, honors former players, coaches, managers, and staff members whose achievements helped shape the franchise on and off the field.
Beckett and Willis will be honored during pregame ceremonies on back-to-back Sundays in September.
The Marlins kicked off baseball's imminent approach with preseason FanFest and firework show on Saturday at loanDepot Park.
Last year's inaugural class included Jeff Conine, Jim Leyland, Jack McKeon and Luis Castillo.
All Legends plaques will have a permanent home in the Marlins' Museum on the Legends Level behind home plate.
“Josh Beckett and Dontrelle Willis are two of the most iconic figures in Marlins history,” Marlins chairman and majority owner Bruce Sherman said in a press release Saturday. "They are so deserving of this recognition."
Beckett’s legacy is forever tied to the 2003 World Series. A two-time World Series champion and three-time All Star, he earned World Series MVP honors after throwing a complete-game shutout in Game 6 to clinch the franchise’s second title against the New York Yankees.
Willis became the emotional heartbeat of the 2003 championship run. The two-time All Star and National League Rookie of the Year is remembered for his old-school high-kick windup and delivery, infectious energy, and dominance at the peak of his career, including a franchise-record 22-win season in 2005.
Beckett will be honored when Miami hosts the Chicago Cubs on Sunday, Sept. 6.
The Marlins will recognize Willis prior to their Sunday, Sept. 13 matchup against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Spring training in Florida and Arizona opens Friday, Feb. 20. The World Baseball Classic's Miami bracket opens play on Friday, March 6.
MLB's season opens Wednesday night, March 25, as the New York Yankees taking on the San Francisco Giants at Oracle Park.
The Marlins opted to hold Opening Day on Friday night, March 27, hosting the Colorado Rockies.
