With the postseason fading, Conine ignited a desperate Miami offense by clobbering two clutch hits to stun the Phillies and keep the club’s playoff dreams alive.

MIAMI — Over a 72-hour span, Griffin Conine delivered two of the biggest hits of the Miami Marlins' 2026 season, helping keep his club in contention for a playoff berth.

In Monday's series opener against the Philadelphia Phillies at loanDepot park, Conine lined a game-winning single over the head of second baseman Bryson Stott with the bases loaded and one out, capping a dramatic three-run ninth-inning rally that snapped a franchise-record 12-game losing streak.

Wednesday's series finale unfolded differently for Conine.

After not getting the start in right field, he entered as a pinch hitter in the bottom of the eighth inning with a runner on first and one out.

Conine drilled a hanging changeup from Phillies reliever Jonathan Bowlan for a go-ahead, two-run home run that lifted the Marlins to an 8-6 comeback victory after they trailed 6-0.

Those two at-bats may have changed the trajectory of the Marlins' season, putting them back into the National League playoff race.

"A sweep definitely feels like an exclamation point in a division series," Conine said after Wednesday's game.

At 55-54 after what felt like a disastrous few weeks, the Marlins are opening a crucial seven-game road trip against two teams in their division.

Conine is in the starting lineup Thursday for a 7:10 p.m. ET first pitch at Citi Field against the New York Mets, batting sixth behind Heriberto Hernández and playing right field.

For a club searching for consistency, Conine's recent production has arrived at an important time.

The Marlins entered the Phillies series struggling to find answers, but a pair of late-game rallies provided a reminder of the offense's potential when timely hitting breaks through.

Conine, who battled back from a dislocated left shoulder in 2025 and a torn left hamstring in 2026, has embraced whatever role has been asked of him.

Whether starting in the outfield or waiting for his opportunity off the bench, he has continued to prepare for the moments when manager Clayton McCullough calls his number.

The Marlins will need more contributions like that as they begin their road trip in New York.

Miami still has work to do, but they have positioned themselves within striking distance of the National League Wild Card race.

Sitting just two games back of the final Wild Card spot, Miami enters the road trip with a brilliant opportunity to climb back into postseason contention.

And after two clutch swings against Philadelphia, Conine has given the Marlins something they desperately needed: belief.
