Jumbo Shrimp shine with top prospects and stellar pitching. Meanwhile, Beloit's Sky Carp achieve a remarkable no-hitter to close out their series.

As we near the end of April, only one team among the Miami Marlins’ four minor league affiliates has a winning record.

The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, won four of six games in their recent series against the Charlotte Knights (White Sox) to enter this week 11-10 on the season. The defending Triple-A national champions sport three of the Marlins’ top five prospects according to MLB Pipeline.

Miami’s No. 5 prospect catcher Joe Mack hit his third home run of the season on Sunday and his second of the series. The No. 59-ranked prospect in baseball leads the Jumbo Shrimp in OBP (.391), SLG (.451), and OPS (.842). The Marlins’ No. 2 pitching prospect Robby Snelling struck out nine batters through six shutout innings on April 17 to lower his ERA to 1.80 on the season.

Braxton Garrett starts the Jacksonville series against Gwinnett (Braves) coming off throwing six no-hit innings. He has a 0.59 ERA coming off missing 2025 due to an injury and is due for a return to the Marlins soon.

The Pensacola Blue Wahoos split their series with Knoxville (Cubs) and improved to 5-9 on the season after starting with a five-game losing streak. Outfielder Dillon Lewis (Marlins No. 11 prospect) has hit two home runs and driven in nine RBI during the series. Payton Green had a huge game on April 14 against the Smokies, going 4-for-4 with two doubles and a home run.

Marlins No. 10 prospect Karson Milbrandt has a 2.19 ERA with 17 strikeouts in 12.1 innings pitched. His season is lining up with his first two Double-A starts last year, where he allowed two runs in 10.2 total innings pitched.

The Beloit Sky Carp (High-A) couldn’t have ended their series against South Bend (Cubs) any better than they did on Sunday, with No. 28 prospect Aiden May and reliever Justin Storm combined to pitch a no-hitter.

May tossed six innings on 77 pitches with five strikeouts and two walks. The soon-to-be 23-year-old right-hander was drafted 70th overall by the Marlins in the 2024 Draft. May has a 3.45 ERA with 11 strikeouts in 15 2/3 innings this season.

The Sky Carp lost the series but won two of the last three games to enter their upcoming series against Great Lakes (Dodgers) at 6-8.

The Jupiter Hammerheads (Low-A) struggled against rival Palm Beach (Cardinals) last week, losing 4-of-6 and entering the upcoming series against Daytona (Reds) at 5-10 on the season. Jake McCutcheon had a monster game on Sunday, hitting two home runs for six RBIs in a 7-6 loss. Shortstop Carter Johnson amassed 12 total bases during the series.
