Jupiter battles the Tampa Tarpons for Florida State League glory as hot-hitting prospects Echedry Vargas and Jacob Lombard aim to overturn a winless season series against their rivals.

The Jupiter Hammerheads will take on the Tampa Tarpons in the Single-A Florida State League Championship on Sunday in Tampa.

The Hammerheads recently clinched the FSL East Division after defeating Daytona in a best-of-three series.

Game 1 is at George M. Steinbrenner Field while the final two games are at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium. While Jupiter holds home field advantage in the championship series, the Hammerheads have lost all five matchups against the Tarpons this season.

Echedry Vargas has been the Hammerheads’ MVP this season, batting .323 with 27 home runs and 94 RBI. Jacob Lombard has provided a spark for the Hammerheads since being drafted and has been their postseason MVP with a home run in both of Jupiter’s wins over Daytona in the first round of the playoffs.
