The New York Mets might complete a trade with the Pittsburgh Pirates, and Lucas, Peter and Bob break down what that could look like.

On this week's episode of the New York Mets podcasts, our trio of Lucas Stackpole, Bob Houk and Peter Pappalardo open the show with some exciting Mets news.

Recently, Major League Baseball revealed the 2026 Hall of Fame inductees, including former Met Carlos Beltrán. The centerfielder spent 6.5 seasons with the club and will officially wear their hat on his Hall of Fame plaque. Beltrán is only the third player to represent the Mets in the HoF, joining Tom Seaver and Mike Piazza -- two players whom Lucas dubs as the best of all time for the franchise. Let us know in the comments if you agree with his take, or if you think there are any better players in New York's history.

Lucas acknowledges the Houston Astros' scandal and how that might have affected Beltrán's chances of getting in, but ultimately, the voters put it aside and recognized the legendary career. Would you rather have the nine-time All-Star represent a different team? Leave a comment and your reasoning for any other club that you believe he should have worn their hat in the Hall!

Looking into the upcoming World Baseball Classic, the trio dives into a report that Super Bowl Halftime Performer and Grammy-winning artist Bad Bunny paid for the insurance of shortstop Francisco Lindor to be able to play in the tournament. Both are from Puerto Rico, meaning there's likely mutual respect and adoration. However, Lindor still won't be able to suit up for his country after not getting permission from the Mets to participate.

The trio is all in agreement that it was an amazing gesture and that they loved to see the connection between Lindor and Bad Bunny, but admit it's unfortunate that the shortstop still won't be able to participate.

Lucas, Peter and Bob then make a proposition to combine their funds and pay for Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout's insurance so he can compete for Team USA -- so we're wishing the best of luck to their bank accounts.

Some good news in the broadcasting booth, Keith Hernandez renewed his contract to remain in the booth, which should be one of the more exciting pieces of news for fans.

Lastly, the crew briefly discusses the Pittsburgh Pirates reportedly having interest in acquiring either Mark Vientos or Brett Baty from New York, so be sure to hear the breakdown of that conversation on the podcast.
