The New York Mets have invested heavily in the international market in the last few years, and there’s been plenty of talk about their Top 30 prospects. Baseball America covers the Top 30 extensively, but this week they released a list of ten other prospects who just missed the list but are still well worth talking about, so let’s highlight a few of the more promising ones that Matt Eddy covered in his list of the next ten.

Brendan Girton, RHP (33)

Girton is a name college baseball fans might recognize. The Mets picked him in the tenth round of the 2024 draft out of Oklahoma, and he also pitched for Texas Tech. Girton made the 2025 rotation at Double A Binghamton last year as the Rumble Ponies won the Eastern League championship, with the other three starters being Jonathan Santucci, Will Watson and RJ Gordon.

Girton throws a heady mix of sliders and sweepers to go with a four-seam fastball that plays in the mid 90s, and he can continue to start if he continues to develop his off-speed stuff. Otherwise, his mix plays in the pen, and it will be interesting to see if he can make the jump to Triple-A Syracuse this season.

Edward Lantigua, OF (31)

Lantigua is a name that’s familiar to those who follow international baseball. He made the DSL All-Star team in 2024 after he was signed out of the Dominican Republic, and he’s a contact hitter who’s shown the ability to hit for average and get on base, according to Eddy. He’s just 19, so he’s got some filling out to do, and Lantigua will need to add some power if he wants to maintain his current positional status as a corner outfielder. He made it to the Florida Complex League in 2025, so next up is Low A if he continues to advance.

Yovanny Rodriguez, C (36)

The Mets took a run at Venezuelan catchers a couple of years ago, signing Diversion Gutierrez in 2023 and Rodriguez in 2024. Rodriguez has emerged as a hitting prospect in the Dominican Summer League, and in his second season at that level he slashed .331/.446/.493 and finished among catchers in the league in OPS. His catching skills are raw, but Rodriguez has a strong work ethic, and the hope is that his power potential plays at the next level as he continues to hone his defensive skills.
