Nasim Nunez drove in a career-high four RBIs in the Washington Nationals road win over the Chicago White Sox

The Washington Nationals got back in the win column to even the series thanks to a four run tenth inning, lifting them over the Chicago White Sox, 6-3.

With the win, the Nationals are now 2-3 in extra inning games this season while moving to 12-16 overall and 9-6 away.

Jake Irvin finished with what may be his best start of the season after not allowing a run and just four hits while tossing nine strikeouts in 5.2 innings. He also notched zero walks for the second straight start, the first time he's recorded the feat this season. Mitchell Parker also added a trio of strikeouts, though he also gave up a pair of earned runs in just 1.1 innings.

Nasim Nunez, starting in place of CJ Abrams, was the lone National to finish with a multi-hit game after going 2-for-4 with four RBIs in the win. He entered the night with just six all season as Nunez notched a new single game career high.

After the two teams opened scoreless through the first three innings, Nunez's first RBI of the game came in the second inning after driving both Brady House and Daylen Lile in after walking, pushing the Nationals ahead 2-0.

Yet the Nationals and White Sox combined for just two hits over the next two innings before Parker took over to close out the sixth inning. The bats wouldn't come alive again until the eighth inning.

After Parker allowed the first two batters to reach base on a walk and hit by pitch, manager Blake Butera turned to Gus Varland, who allowed an RBI single into left field on the first pitch to get the White Sox on the board. Two batters later, a sac fly into center field was enough to drive in the game's trying run.

Cionel Perez would get out of a pair of runners on base in the ninth inning to send the Nationals into extra innings.

A Curtis Mead walk and Luis Garcia Jr single would load the bases before a wild pitch broke the deadlock with James Wood crossing the plate. Lile would then be intentionally walked to load the bases before Joey Wiemer drew a walk, pushing the Nationals ahead, 4-2. Nasim Nunez delivered the dagger with the two-run RBI single into right field to put the nail in the coffin in the latest road win.

The White Sox added one run in the bottom of the inning off a sacrifice fly, but would end on a ground out to set up the rubber match on Sunday afternoon.

The two teams will close out the three game series with Foster Griffin set to take the mound on Sunday and first pitch set for 2:10 PM.
