After signing ten last offseason, the Washington Nationals announced they have agreed to terms with 15 international free agents to end the signing deadline set on Thursday.
With a total spending cap just shy of $6.7 million, the Nationals signed four players to seven figure deals including a pair to near $2 million deals headlined by outfielders Samil Serrano and Isaias Suarez among the 15-man class. Nationals president of baseball operations Paul Toboni and director of international operations Victor Rodriguez made the signings official with an afternoon announcement as we highlight the key signings and full slate of additions:
Shortstop Euris Acosta (Dominican Republic): per Spencer Nusbaum of The Washington Post, Acosta agreed terms for a deal worth $225,000.
Outfielder Juan Duran (Dominican Republic): ranked the 53rd prospect in the 2026 International Class, per Baseball America, and signed to a $1 million deal, one of two players to agree to that figure and tied for fourth-largest bonus. Francys Romero of Béisbol FC compared Duran's power to former power hitter Nelson Cruz in the early stages of his career.
Outfielder Angel Ramirez (Dominican Republic): 52nd prospect in the 2026 International Class, per Baseball America, and joins Duran as another outfielder who agreed to a $1 million deal.
RHP Josue Rondon (Venezuela): Francys Romero of Béisbol FR pointed to Rondon's "impressive build and stature" with a projection to "reach the high-90s in velocity in the near future."
Outfielder Samil Serrano (Dominican Republic): ranked the 16th best prospect in the 2026 International Class, per Baseball America and 26th best international prospect, per MLBPipeline.com. Serrano signed for a reported $1.969 million in the Nationals' highest deal and one of the highest across baseball, though still well below top-ranked shortstop Luis Hernandez's $5 million deal with the San Francisco Giants. A product of the Jaime Ramos Academy where several other top prospects have come from, MLB.com viewed Serrano as more likely to play the corner than centerfield while adding there's a "good bit of feel to hit" for the 6-foot-2 17 year old. Serrano is also viewed as a natural hitter with good contact and strong instincts defensively.
Outfielder Isaias Suarez (Dominican Republic): ranked the 18th prospect in the 2026 International Class, per Baseball America and 40th international prospect, per MLBPipeline.com. MLB.com noted Suarez's athleticism, bat speed and "mature approach" as a right handed hitter. Suarez is the latest prospect out of JDB Baseball, run by Julio Basora. The 6-foot-2 17 year old outfielder is projected as a centerfielder "where he's viewed as a surefire option in the long run," MLB.com added. He signed to a $1.9 million deal, joining Serrano as two of the players the Nationals' front office planned to spend the bulk of their money on.
Others: outfielder Jawel Garcia (Dominican Republic), catcher Pedro Guerra (Venezuela), third baseman Rayniel Lache (Dominican Republic), catcher Carlos Mueses (Dominican Republic), right handed pitcher Santiago Moreno (Venezuela), right handed pitcher Christopher Navas (Venezuela), outfielder Brad Rodriguez (Panama), right handed pitcher Aldemaro Sevilla (Venezuela), catcher Luis Tarifa (Venezuela)
