Four players within the Washington Nationals' farm system in the final MLB Pipeline ranking in the 2026 season
The Washington Nationals put an emphasis on upgrading the farm system since the day Paul Toboni arrived as the new president of baseball operations. Yet he and the front office also inherited several rising stars with four pieces ranked inside MLB Pipeline's final top 100 ranking in 2026.
SS Eli Willits, 6th
The top overall pick from the 2025 MLB Draft, Willits wrapped up a successful first full season in his professional career. Willits began 2026 in Single A before being promoted to High A. Willits then made a brief Double A stint after appearing in three games, totaling five RBIs and one home run with a .357 batting average across his 14 at bats, to live up to the impact piece he was tabbed to be. Across the 2026 season, Willits posted a .265 batting average with 14 home runs, 75 RBIs with a .406 OBP and .463 slugging. Willits was one of two Nationals selected to participate in the 2026 All Star Futures Game.
RHP Travis Sykora, 48th
Despite missing the 2026 season after battling back from Tommy John surgery, Sykora remains a top-50 prospect and the second-best behind Willits in the Nationals' farm system. Sykora is expected to be cleared ahead of the start of the 2027 season, should it materialize, with a chance to return to the minors in Double A.
INF Seaver King, 51st
The Nationals' third-highest rated prospect did not fall too behind Sykora, though King dazzled in 2026, well enough to draw buzz as a potential late season call up candidate among fans. One of the biggest risers this season after jumping from 68th to 51st, King built on a strong offseason to put together a career 2026 season after notching 21 home runs. King also ranked fifth in Rochester after hitting .287 in 2026, along with 16 home runs and 47 RBIs across over 92 games in Triple A. Similar to Willits, King's emergence through 2026 could be primary factors why the Nationals opted to move ahead with Abrams at second base during the second half of the season.
RHP Jarlin Susana, 66th
After battling back from lat surgery that derailed 2025 and the start of 2026, Susana made his return to the minor league at the end of the regular season where he got a chance to showcase himself as he neared full strength. Susana ultimately earned a late season promotion to Triple A Rochester. Susana will now enter the offseason with a crack at an expanded role in 2027 with the expectation he draws a shot as a starter in the Arizona Fall League. Whether it proves to be enough to become a dependable piece in a potential 2027 rotation is the question this offseason.
