Philadelphia’s star slugger shakes off a Saturday migraine to rejoin the hunt against Colorado, looking to extend his elite offensive production and power a series-clinching victory.
The Philadelphia Phillies and their fans got some good news on Sunday morning when the team announced its batting order ahead of their 1:35 p.m. ET showdown with the Colorado Rockies.
The order, rearward via a post on the X social media platform, featured first baseman Bruce Harper batting third after having to leave the Phillies Saturday contest against the Rockies in the bottom of the first inning.
Harper left the game with a migraine ahead of his club’s 9-3 victory and now looks to be recovered in time for the next bout of the weekend series.
The new approach that Harper has taken to the season has him off to a strong start, appearing in all 40 games of the season thus far. For more on that new approach, Phillies Roundtable writer Jon Conahan has more.
On the season thus far, Harper has hit nine home runs while batting .282 and swinging in 23 RBIs. He currently tied at No. 28 across MLB with his .380 on base percentage.
His .929 OPS already has him positions into the top 15 hitters in the league as well. The new approach is indeed working.
It’s a positive sign to see him right back in the lineup on Sunday as many Phillies fans were left holding their breath after his early exit on Saturday.
Harper can continue his impressive rebound season as the Phillies look to take the series against Colorado after splitting 1-1 in the first two matchups.
Philadelphia will then travel back to the Northeast to take on the Boston Red Sox in a midweek series beginning Tuesday.
